The Lost Garden

Cl, Vc, gtr, baritone, 20’ (2013)

The Lost Garden is a four-movement song cycle on poems by Dana Gioia. The poems have themes of love, loss, and the impermanence of things, and are inspired in some ways by classic popular songwriting.

This was my largest piece of work during my undergraduate studies in composition, and it drew on my experiences at USC in many ways - from the different musical styles I was immersed in there to the close friendships formed.

Commissioned by Adrian Rosales, baritone.
