In Two Minds

This piece was written in early autumn of 2018, and has served as a welcome respite from the completion of my PhD at the end of September. With my time in Aberdeen coming to a close, this piece has unintentionally become a meditation on the conflicted feelings surrounding leaving Scotland to return home. There are several divisions and double-sided sounds within the music, including the de-tuning of two of lower strings on both the viola and cello, and the splicing of fast, bright repeated notes into different places within form of the piece.
